WW2 BRITISH RUM JAR
This is a British army rum jar with the initials "S.R.D." marked on the front which stands for "Supply Reserve Depot". However the soldiers tended to changed the meaning of the initials to "Seldom Reaches Destination, Service Rum Diluted and Soon Runs Dry". Soldiers on active service, where issued 2.5 fluid ounces by the discretion of the commanding or medical officer. It would also have been issued during or just after dawn stand to. This example is in excellent condition and maker marked "SKEY TAMWORTH`"
