WW1 GERMAN M1917 GAS MASK

This is a very good example of the M1917 gas mask which is made of tanned sheepskin due to the rubber shortage which Germany was suffering. The celluloid lenses have an inner-frame. The mask is complete with its straps and still very supple. The filter is the model 11 which was also used by the M1915 gas mask. It has suffered with some corrosion, but retains most of its original finish and is dated 7th December 1917. The canister also retains nearly all of its original finish and retains its straps.
