WW2 RUSSIAN/SOVIET INERT RGD-33 GRENADE (INERT)
This is a RGD-33 grenade (Inert), the latch has gone on this so the handle is springy, this was introduced in 1933 and remained in production to 1942. RGD stands for Ruchnaya Granata Djakonova, "Hand Grenade Dyakonov design" . After the German invasion in June 1941 due to it being complicated to use and manufacture, production was discontinued and the RG-42 was developed to slowly replace it. However it continued to be used by the Red Army to 1945. In fact enough stocks remained after 1945 resulting the grenades being used in Korea and the Vietnam Wars. During the German invasion the Wehrmacht captured large stocks of the RGD-33 and issued them to their own forces designating the grenade as the HG337(r) "Handgranate 337 ( Russiche ).
