WW1 1918 DATED GERMAN EMIL BUSCH A-G RATHENOW FERNGLAS 08 BINOCULARS
This is a very nice set of WW1 German military binoculars with its leather case. The binoculars have been stamped ‘Fernglas 08, Emil Busch A-G Rathenow, No 144296’ and dated Jan 1918. The leather case still has it’s original label inside, the case has the stamp C.P.Goerz A.G Berlin.
The manufacturers were Emil Busch AG Rathenow. The “Fernglas 08” binoculars were commissioned by the German Government in 1908, hence the suffix “08” and became the standard German infantry binoculars on all fronts in WW1 and were produced by a multitude of sub-contracted manufacturers. Fernglas 08 are Galilei type binoculars with a cast alloy body and a field of view of 77.4 m/1000m. Stamped on the bridge is “VII.18”.
