U.S. M1956 FIELD PACK

This is an M1956 field pack more commonly referred to as the "butt pack", due to its position it sits when worn. The M1956 field pack differs form the M1961 field pack by not having a rubberised lining and fold over side extensions where the M1961 field pack had downward side extensions.
