This is a very good example of a rear seamed M1 helmet retaining all of its original finish. The rear seamed M1 was manufactured between November 1944 to August 1945 seeing service in the Pacific theatre of operations with very limited numbers getting to Europe before May 1945. This is M1 front seamed swivel bale helmet which was in production from October 1943 to November 1944. This example actually dates to October 1944 when the stainless steel rim was changed to a manganese rim. The shell has had to coats of paint which was period applied.
